Quick note to say a great big thank you to Lightsounds for helping with my daughters 14th birthday party. The guys at the Darlinghurst store me that exceptional customer services is still alive and kicking by taking my limited budget (and limited imagination) and worked out the best lighting combination for my solution, Brett the Manager, really took the time to listen to what I wanted and helped constructed a package that included a laser, smoke machine, ultra violet and a wonderful thing called a “quad phase” which (for those that can remember) produced an effect like a multi coloured old fashioned glitter ball, only 100 times better. The result was fantastic and really made the party one to remember. On behalf of my daughter, and her 50 friends, a big thanks Lightsounds. Regards, Paul Carter
Sure thing, Lightsounds have often thought of holding a fire sale, but this might have been taking it a bit too literally. Truth be told, while Lightsounds’ Sydney City store was offering our usual scorching prices, it was actually a nearby stockist of what we’ll politely describe as ‘marital aids’ that had the alarm bells vibrating – er, ringing. The crowds had gathered outside the Lightsounds outlet just off Darlinghurst’s Oxford St shopping strip – including a surprising number of guys dressed as firemen – but couldn’t take advantage of the smoking hot offers and flaming good range Lightsounds had on their hot little hands, as staff and customers were locked out, and left watching the not-quite-so-towering inferno being brought under control. Beside a bit of singe around the awning, it’s back to business as usual for Sydney City Lightsounds, but the deals are still smouldering.
It’s a new era for Lightsounds. The customer’s needs – in both equipment and service – have changed. And Lightsounds have changed. That famous landmark yellow building on Parramatta Road is no more. And now there’s a new flagship outlet that goes with the times.
Conveniently located at 459A Canterbury Road Campsie, the new Lightsounds superstore is a revelation. Across one level all your staging, lighting, DJ, and audio needs right there for you.
This new space is bigger, brighter. Expanded and new product lines will give you options and choices you never thought possible. The brands you know are still there:
Pioneer, Native Instruments, Ableton, AKAI, Numark, KRK, Mixvibes, Traktor, Wharfedale Pro, UDG, and more.
And it isn’t just about the products – beside simple advantages like on-site parking, the room to demonstrate everything from lasers to PA systems, karaoke jukeboxes to intelligent LED lighting at their best, and the ease of direct street-level loadout – there’s new services to make your Lightsounds experience that much better.
New production and installation departments will guide your needs. Onsite training facilities and even a DJ Academy, with the internationally renowned Nik Fish on staff, will have you making the best of the gear Lightsounds have got for you – whether beginner or pro, and whatever your budget. An expanded hire department will handle your one-off party and event requirements.
Some things won’t change. Lightsounds will still be offering the best value deals and prices, bar none. Guaranteed. The new superstore will offer trade-in services, and terms to suit – to get your business, and keep it. The superstore will have sales, and special offers. Clearance and ex-demo stock will be available at unbeatable cost.
It’s a whole new Lightsounds experience. Be part of it.
After a stint competing in a DJ comp, it dawned on us that meeting other DJ’s was more fun than competing against them. Where else could you talk shop, hear great tunes and share a beer with your fellow DJ’s and other dance music fans?
In a move to replicate ‘the love,’ felt while connecting with other producers in a DJ comp, KULTUR3 is launching an event aimed at discovering new DJs and producers, hearing other genres and expanding one’s own musical repertoire.
With the help of some supportive DJs and music fans, the first “KULTUR3” event is coming to you, aimed at fostering the same fun time, alcohol-fuelled networking you’re used, to minus the competition.
On board are a variety of performers, spinning a wide array of genres, from house and trance, to dirty electro, psy, and a touch of dubstep. Along for the ride are Smokin’ Joe Mekhael, Sexwax, DJ Sass, Ben4:20, DJ Buddha,Kobuki, Aztech, Smacktalk and Mark Hardacre+Kenneth Burnett, The Bilbies, Robust and Robes.
Sweeney’s Hotel at Town Hall, a typically laid back pub lends it’s self to a chilled out atmosphere on the roof top. Catch some sun, have some beers, meet up with friends and make some new ones, and all a few hours before the clubs even open!
There will also be a gold coin donation BBQ from 1.30pm on the roof top with funds raised going back into KULTUR3’s next event and for those who wanna get their dance on, the indoors room comes equipped with lasers, lighting effects and epic projection art on a blackened out dance floor.
$10 entry, cheap drinks, BBQ and tunes…How kultur3’d.
See you at Midday, Feb 11th, Sweeney’s Hotel, corner of Druitt St and Clarence St, Town Hall.
